Harry and Meghan’s Christmas invite may be ‘withdrawn’ before it was issued

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s invitation to spend Christmas with the Royal Family may be “withdrawn” before its even been sent out, according to one royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s plans for this Christmas, as of yet, remain unknown but questions have heightened over whether this will be the year that they will reunite with the Royal Family.

The couple haven’t spent the festive period in the UK since 2018, just seven months after their wedding day.

In 2019, although still senior members of the Royal Family, the couple opted to spend Prince Archie’s first Christmas with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Their last three Christmasses have been spent in the US, having moved there in 2020 but just last month a friend of the Sussexes said they would readily accept an invite to spend the festivities with the Royal Family at Sandringham.

After speculation over whether King Charles will extend an invite to his youngest son and daughter-in-law, the Daily Mail’s diary editor Richard Eden claims that an invite may be “withdrawn” even before its been received.

This news comes after the two names of the “royal racists”, which are not being shared by the Daily Express, were revealed in Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame.

In 2021, during the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan alleged that “concerns” had been raised over the colour of their then-unborn son’s skin. Although never actually revealing who had been involved in the conversations, the couple’s friend Gayle King made it clear that it was not the late Queen Elizabeth II nor Prince Philip.

However a dutch version of Mr Scobie’s book named the two royals accused of having the conversations. Piers Morgan later revealed the names live on TV and several other publications have since followed suit. The author claims he had no part to play in the accidental publication of the two names.

Discussing whether an invite to spend Christmas at Sandringham woudl be forthcoming, Mr Eden said: “I suspect that they [Harry and Meghan] are probably annoyed with [Omid] Scobie as the rest of the Royal Family.

“Over recent weeks, the Sussexes had been desperately trying to mend fences with King Charles, phoning him on his birthday and friends dropping hints about how they would like to be invited to Sandringham for Christmas.

“From what I hear, any invitation that might have been will not be withdrawn.”

It has been speculated that Harry and Meghan are undecided over where they wish to spend Christmas.

An insider previously claimed that the couple are having “increasingly more frequent rows, the closer Christmas gets” as they are “torn” over where they should be over the festive period.

The insider told Heat magazine: “[They could] avoid less welcoming types like the Prince and Princess of Wales. Plus it would be a coup from a PR standpoint because they’d maintain those visible links with the monarchy – and, let’s face it, that’s what makes them marketable.

“But they just can’t agree and, the closer Christmas gets, the more rows they’re having over it.”
