Harry and Meghan ‘torpedoed’ UK return chances with ‘Finding Freedom’ – ‘No-deal Megxit’

Queen and Prince Philip: Experts discuss ‘HMS Bubble’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the UK in the spring of last year to start their new lives in the US. In the months that followed there was speculation about whether the move could be reversed.

However, Celia Walden, gossip columnist and partner of Piers Morgan, claimed last year the couple cemented their new lives when ‘Finding Freedom’ was published, citing royal sources.

The biography, written by royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, provides an insight into the couples’ backgrounds and eventual exit from the Royal Family.

Ms Walden blasted the book, claiming it managed to “entrench the rift between Prince Harry and Prince William”.

Writing in The Telegraph last year, she stated: “With any further negotiation surely off the table, it’s a no-deal Megxit.”

Around the same time, the Daily Mail cited ‘royal sources’ as saying chances for a return to the couple’s royal roles had been ‘torpedoed’ with one saying “it’s hard to see how they can now salvage the new role they wanted as ‘hybrid’ royals” following the biography’s publication.

Another told the outlet: “It doesn’t seem [as] if there is any way of going back now.”

However, despite the reports Harry and Meghan are still in a transition period that is expected to last until March 31.

The Sun recently claimed the two royals are negotiating an extension to the deal, claiming the talks are “less confrontational” than the initial royal exit discussions.

The paper also cited a ‘top aide’ as saying: “Expect things to drag past March 31.”

In addition, despite analysts’ sentiments last year others are claiming relations between the Sussexes and other royals are warming.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton has claimed Harry and the Queen speak “more often than you would think”.

In addition Harry and brother Prince William are said to have exchanged Christmas presents last month.

The ongoing ‘Megxit’ discussions come after the two royals signed two landmark deals to produce content for streaming companies Spotify and Netflix, valued at tens of millions of pounds.

The first episode of the couple’s Spotify podcasts was released late last year, featuring a star-studded celebrity ensemble.

They currently reside in California, having relocated there from the UK last year.
