Harry and Meghan to make first joint appearance at Invictus Games in Germany

Prince Harry on ‘healing journey’ as he promotes Invictus Games

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make an appearance together at September’s Invictus Games.

The Duchess of Sussex will take to the stage during the closing ceremony of the games where she will host the “Lifestories Scene” segment, which provides insight into the bravery and resilience of the injured servicemen and women competing.

The 42-year-old’s contribution will be “poignant” and serve as a testament to the games’ ability to transform lives, organisers said.

And Prince Harry will also deliver a farewell speech at the closing ceremony in Düsseldorf, Germany, which is set to take place on September 16, the Telegraph reports.

The 38-year-old will praise the competitors’ “unwavering spirit and impressive recovery journey,” it has been reported.

The royal claimed this year’s event will be “the best ever”, as he revealed he was both “excited” and “nervous” for the tournament.

He said while addressing the athletes: “You’re all on different parts of your healing journey. We all are – we always will be.

“Good luck for the remaining few weeks, have fun, look forward to it. Being nervous is a good thing.

“We have 21 nations this year and can’t wait to have every continent represented. Except Antarctica – but still working on that.

“Thank you for your service, for your commitment, your determination in getting to this point. We are going to have a lot of fun and yeah, look forward to it.

“We’re ready to host you. It’s going to be the best games ever – the best games yet.”

This will be the couple’s first public appearance together since the car chase following an award ceremony in New York on May 16.

Earlier this month the pair showed a united front when they sat side-by-side in the garden of their Montecito mansion to mark the launch of a fund to support online safety projects for young people.

Other famous figures due to appear at the closing ceremony include Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German president who hosted the King and Queen in March this year, while pop star Rita Ora will be performing at the event at the Merkur Spiel-Arena.
