Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “Team Sussex” have launched a “PR offensive…against Buckingham Palace”, according to royal commentators. This comes after American TV host and friend of the couple, Gayle King, revealed on US television that the Duke of Sussex’s recent contact with Prince Charles and Prince William had “not been productive”. ITV Royal Rota podcast hosts Chris Ship and Lizzie Robinson discussed the impact of this development.
Ms Robinson told listeners: “[Gayle King] wouldn’t have said anything without their approval.
“We know how discreet and private their friends have been up to this point.
“So it does seem that they would only come out and say this stuff with their approval.
“To give an account that the talks were not productive kind of goes against the wish of the Queen.”
She added: “She said in that statement that she wanted to address the matters of the family privately.”
Mr Ship agreed: “Yes, and obviously this isn’t a very private way to go about things.
“I thought it was a significant new escalation in the PR offensive from Team Sussex against Buckingham Palace.”
Gayle King shared her phone call with Harry and Meghan on CBS This Morning last week.

She told her co-hosts: “It’s true Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too.
“The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive.
“But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.”

Ms King added that the Palace’s insistence on “working problems out privately” amid continued “false stories” about Meghan has “upset” the couple.
According to the host, the Duke and Duchess only want the monarchy to acknowledge that they could have stopped “unfair, inaccurate [tabloid] stories with a racial slant”.
She told CBS: “But they both want to move forward with this.
“They both want healing in this family.
“At the end of the day, that’s Harry’s family.”
