Harry and Meghan one-hour week ‘inconsistent’ with ‘life of service’

Angela Levin criticises Meghan Markle’s behaviour ahead of prestigious award

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle working a total of one hour a week on their Archewell Foundation has been slammed as “inconsistent” with their “life of service” message. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do charity work through the foundation, which they founded in October 2020 when they moved to the US after stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. But the couple have come in for heavy criticism after a tax filing revealed they worked a total of one hour a week, or 52 hours a year, at their Archewell Foundation in 2021 while drawing in £10million from wealthy backers.

The admission in the tax filing is “totally inconsistent” with the original statement the couple made in 2021, according to royal expert Hilary Fordwich.

She told Fox News Digital: “They said, ‘We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.’

“One hour a week isn’t exactly ‘a life’. There is a vast distinction between a ‘life’ of service to others versus a self-promoting and self-serving life.”

Royal expert Kirsty Schofield also believes the hours listed in the tax filing don’t align with the couple’s mission to put service to others at the forefront.

The host of the “Di For Daily” podcast told Fox News Digital: “It’s no secret that Meghan pursued a friendship with activist Gloria Steinem.

“This week we discovered that Meghan is conveniently being awarded the Women of Vision Award by Steinem at the Ms. Foundation for Women gala in May.

“I’ve never seen two people that contribute so little to society collect so many awards.

“I think the one-hour work week demonstrates a lack of sincerity in their ‘life of service’ statement post-Megxit.

Earlier this week, it was announced Meghan will be one of six females to receive the Ms. Foundation’s Women of Vision Award during an annual gala at New York City’s Ziegfeld Ballroom on May 16.

The Duchess of Sussex will be honoured for “her global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls” by Ms. Foundation co-founder Gloria Steinem.

But speaking to GB News in the UK, royal author Angela Levin said: “This is what they say – ‘Our sole purpose is to do good’.

“The other thing is they believe in compassion and that is their aim – everyone world is compassionate to everyone else.

“What example are they in reality? Meghan doesn’t speak to anyone in her family except her mother and she has actually encouraged Harry to leave his own family.

“It is absolutely astonishing that they have the audacity to take this high-rise behaviour and pretend they deserve all of these things.

“It’s laughable – like giving a child at a party a present so he doesn’t feel left out. She doesn’t deserve any of those things.”

Harry and Meghan said in their recent filing that Archewell’s core purpose is to “uplift and unite communities – local and global, online and offline – one act of compassion at a time”.

They added: “Archewell Foundation believes that compassion is the defining cultural force of thee 21st century and, through its work, Archewell Foundation supports a growing community of partner organizations fueling systemic cultural change.

“Archewell Foundation listens to people and their communities, helps them tell their stories, puts real action behind its words, and spotlights a new generation of leadership.”
