Harry and Meghan mark first year of marriage with previously unseen wedding photos

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have celebrated their first year of marriage by releasing a set of previously unseen behind-the-scenes photographs from their wedding day.

The royal couple, who have recently welcomed son Archie into the family, released the slide show on Instagram, and it features intimate photos from their wedding day last May.

The collection, accompanied by This Little Light of Mine recession music that was played during the ceremony, includes photos of Prince Harry hailing a taxi, and Meghan laughing with her father-in-law Prince Charles.

In the message, the couple said: “Thank you for all of the love and support from so many of you around the world. Each of you made this day even more meaningful.”

The wedding in the grounds of Windsor Castle was attended by A-list stars such as George and Amal Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams.

it is thought that the Duchess’ mother, Doria Ragland, is staying with the couple and could perform babysitting duties, should the couple decide to have a dinner or trip out to celebrate their anniversary.

A first wedding anniversary is traditionally celebrated with paper gifts, with couples often exchanging paper tickets.

A year after they wed on 19 May last year at St George’s Chapel, we look back at some of the highlights of the last 365 days.

Just days after their glittering wedding ceremony, the newlyweds made their first official engagement as a married couple at a garden party celebrating the Prince of Wales’s charity work.

Meghan embarked on her first joint engagement with the Queen on a day trip to Cheshire, and body language experts said the pair got on famously.

In July, Harry and Meghan travelled to Dublin – their first official overseas trip as a married couple – and visited Croke Park stadium, the scene of the Bloody Sunday atrocity committed by British troops against civilians in 1920.

In the autumn, Meghan took her mother Doria Ragland to the launch of the Grenfell community cookbook she championed – and helped prepare lunch for the guests at the Hubb Community Kitchen in London.

Meghan had suggested the idea of the book to a group of women who cooked together at a Muslim cultural centre in North Kensington in the aftermath of the Grenfell tragedy.

In October, the Sussexes were back in St George’s Chapel where they were guests at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

Three days later, they publicly announced they were expecting a baby when Harry and Meghan were starting their official tour to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

Harry called the baby “our little bump” as the pair continued with their 16-day trip which featured more than 70 engagements including a trip to Bondi beach in Sydney and the 2018 Invictus Games.

On Remembrance Sunday, the duchess joined other members of the Royal Family for the first time at the Cenotaph.

And the family came together again for Charles’ 70th birthday for official photographs, and then a party hosted by the Queen.

The Royal Variety Performance is a staple of the royal calendar and Meghan had her first introduction to the event, joining Harry in meeting Take That at the charity show.

As it emerged that the couple had chosen Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate as the home where they will raise their family, rumours abounded as to the reason for their move away from Kensington Palace, amid speculation over Meghan and Kate’s relationship.

But the two couples were all smiles when they led the royal family to church on Christmas Day at Sandringham.

In February, Meghan enjoyed a baby shower get together with friends, including Amal Clooney and Jessica Mulroney, in New York.

In March, it was announced that Harry and Meghan were to have their own household based at Buckingham Palace, separate to William and Kate, to take forward their growing roles as senior members of the Royal Family.

In April, Harry and Meghan moved out of Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor having carried out extensive renovations to the house at an estimated cost to the taxpayer of £3m.

A month later, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on at 5.26am on 6 May, weighing 7lb 3oz, at London’s Portland Hospital, a private hospital favoured by celebrities.

Archie, who is the seventh in line to the throne and an eighth great-grandchild for the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, is believed to be the first mixed-race child born to a senior member of the royal family in centuries, and is a reflection of modern Britain with its culturally diverse population.

When Harry announced to the world his wife had given birth to a boy he could not hide his happiness at becoming a father for the first time, to a baby he said was “absolutely to-die-for”.

There have been no public announcements regarding how the royal couple plan to celebrate their first anniversary, but Meghan’s mother is thought to be staying with the couple and could perform babysitting duties.
