Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been backed to show “resilience” in their future careers and “learn” from their Emmy Awards nomination omission.

The Duke of Duchess of Sussex’s six-part documentary on Netflix, which premiered on the online streaming platform last December, was missing from the list of Emmy nominations this week

The snub had surprised some industry experts, who had tipped the couple to be nominated and be a leading contender for a prestigious award, especially as the series smashed several viewership records for Netflix.

But Harry and Meghan have been urged not to “dwell” on this disappointment and instead “redirect their energy towards creating content that resonates with audiences and contributes to positive change”.

Mark Boardman, a showbiz writer and media commentator who is also Entertainment Editor at MarkMeets believes the Emmys snub “can serve as a valuable opportunity for reflection and growth”.

He told Daily Express US: “This moment of disappointment can serve as a valuable opportunity for reflection and growth.

“Harry and Meghan can take the time to reassess their creative approach, seek feedback, and identify areas for improvement and innovation in their future projects.

“By learning from this experience and adapting their strategies, they can demonstrate their resilience and commitment to delivering compelling content that captures the attention of viewers worldwide.”

The showbiz and entertainment expert believes Harry and Meghan must now “redefine themselves and explore new avenues” so they are able to “strengthen their position in the media landscape, both individually and as a couple”.

Boardman pinpointed two specific advantages that each of the Sussexes have at their disposal that could prove vital in them “reinventing themselves and improving their ability to connect with audiences”.

He concluded: “Moving forward, it becomes crucial for Harry and Meghan to shift their focus to the broader impact of their work.

“They must emphasize the value they bring to the industry through their creative vision, storytelling abilities, and the ability to spark meaningful conversations.

“Instead of dwelling on the disappointment of the nomination snub, they should redirect their energy towards creating content that resonates with audiences and contributes to positive change.

The expert added: “In order to strengthen their position in the media landscape, both individually and as a couple, Harry and Meghan need to redefine themselves and explore new avenues.

“Meghan’s future in television and film offers opportunities for her to establish herself as a prominent figure in the industry.

“Meanwhile, Harry must also find ways to re-engage his waning loyal fan base that still exists by leveraging his royal background and working with new people who can help generate positive media attention.

“By reinventing themselves and improving their ability to connect with audiences, they can enhance their standing with Netflix and the broader media community.”

Harry’s own Heart of Invictus series is due to hit Netflix over the coming weeks, while the prince could also reportedly travel to Africa at some point to film another documentary.

Last month, the online streaming giant reaffirmed its commitment to the partnership with the Sussexes, quashing speculation it may be in danger of following the couple’s agreement with Spotify, which has mutually ended.

A Netflix spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight: “The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry and Meghan launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date.

“Our exciting journey with them isn’t ending anytime soon. We’re currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus.”
