Harry and Meghan ‘absolutely furious’ over Coronation balcony snub

Meghan Markle could ‘banish’ Prince Harry if he steps out of line

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are likely “absolutely furious” that they will not be allowed to stand on the Buckingham Palace balcony if they attend the Coronation, a royal expert has said. Royal biographer Angela Levin predicts the Sussexes won’t attend the historic event because of the perceived snub. They are expected to reply to their invitation in a matter of days.

Speaking to Sky News Australia, Ms Levin said: “They have made demands about standing on the balcony. On the one hand they’ve said they want such an intimate family moment – believe that and you’ll believe anything – and on the other hand they demand that they are on there with their children, and also that they want an apology first.”

She added: “So none of that has worked. The authority and the kindness from them, nobody is interested in. So they won’t be there. I expect they are absolutely furious.”

Asked about Prince George’s role of page boy at the Coronation, Levin said: “I think that’s so lovely. If he’s up to it, and I’m sure he’s being trained to do it, as he’s quite a shy boy.

“But he seems to be less shy than he was when he was younger. And he seems to have an idea about his position.”

She added: “I think it would be incredibly moving. You see the King, the heir to the throne, and the next heir to the throne.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to tell the Palace whether or not they are attending the Coronation within a few days.

Sources told Express.co.uk that Harry is expected to attend the event – but Meghan’s attendance is still in serious doubt.

The pair missed the official RSVP deadline and have reportedly caused annoyance in royal circles for “stringing out” a public announcement.

Sources told the Daily Beast that Prince William is “baffled” by his brother’s delay in responding to the invitation to attend the once-in-a-generation event.

The source said: “William is baffled by Harry not publicly saying that he is coming to the coronation, especially because everyone thinks he will be there.”

Prince Harry’s delay in announcing is seen as his latest attempt to “try and be difficult,” the source added.

The New York Post’s Page Six has also reported that there are ongoing negotiations over the Sussexes’ attendance at the Coronation, as the Palace hope the couple will attend.

King Charles III’s Coronation is slated for May 6. He will be crowned at Westminster Abbey.
