Two new photos of a beaming Prince George have been shared before his seventh birthday on Wednesday, July 22. The sweet portraits were both taken by mum Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and show the young prince looking happy and at ease as he smiles confidently at the camera.

Kensington Palace confirmed the photos of the young royal were taken by the Duchess last month and are understood to have both been snapped in Norfolk.

One of the photos appears to show George in front of a painted door, possibly at Anmer Hall, and the other out on a walk in the countryside.

In both pictures George is sporting green – he wears an olive polo shirt in one and a khaki military-style t-shirt in the other.

Khaki green seems to be George’s favourite colour as he was pictured wearing the same shade in photos shared to mark Prince William’s birthday last month.

  • Key sign Prince George, Charlotte and Louis to spend summer HERE

While Prince Louis is still too young for school, William and Kate were tasked with homeschooling George and Charlotte until they broke up for the summer holidays earlier this month.

They are usually pupils at Thomas’s Battersea in London and are expected to return to school in September when classes restart.

Kate shared an insight into how Prince George was finding homeschooling when the mum revealed he was sometimes jealous of his younger sister’s projects.

Speaking on This Morning in May, the Duchess said: “George gets very upset because he wants to do Charlotte’s projects.”

“Because making things like spider sandwiches is far cooler than doing literacy work!”

Speaking on BBC Breakfast earlier this month, Kate joked about her children’s insatiable appetites.

Kate spoke to Louise Minchin about the BBC’s new digital resource for parents, Tiny Happy People, and opened up about the young royals’ large appetites, saying: “My children have bottomless pits.

“I feel like a constant feeding machine.”

Prince George is third in line to the throne after his father Prince William and grandfather Prince Charles, 71, and is one day expected to be on the British throne.

George is also expected to take on new royal titles when Prince William is king.

A constitutional expert explained how George will gain new royal titles in the years to come.

Asked if George will be the next Duke of Cambridge, expert Iain MacMarthanne told Express.co.uk: “When William becomes King, the dukedom of Cambridge will merge with the crown.

“Upon William becoming king, George will cease being known as Prince George of Cambridge, and will be styled as The Prince George, and will automatically become Duke of Cornwall and Rothesay.

“In the event, he marries before William becomes king, and if present custom prevails, then he will be created a duke on the morning of his wedding.

“As has previously been the case, when the dukedom of Cambridge is merged with the crown, it will be free to be used as and when decided by the monarch.”
