‘Happy birthday Archie’: Royal family send best wishes to Harry and Meghan’s son

The Royal family have wished Archie, son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a happy second birthday.

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge tweeted from their @KensingtonRoyal account: “Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today.”

Their message was accompanied by a picture of Archie when he was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a private ceremony in July 2019.

The Queen has also sent her best wishes to her great-grandson via a tweet from the official Royal Family account saying: “Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today.”

And Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, shared a photo, taken by fashion photographer Chris Allerton, of Harry proudly showing Archie off to the child’s grandfather at his christening.

Archie has spent most of his life living away from his royal relatives in America with parents Harry and Meghan.

The duchess revealed how the special bond between her son and husband inspired her first children’s book, The Bench.

Archie has rarely been seen during the last 12 months but did feature in a black and white video clip released earlier this year, showing him walking along the beach watched by his parents and the family pet dog, Guy.

Archie also made a surprise appearance in the Sussexes’ first podcast for Spotify in December last year – when he was heard speaking in an American accent.

To mark his first birthday, Harry and Meghan released footage of their son playing up for the camera as his mum read him children’s book, Duck! Rabbit!

Fans hope the couple will release another image today to mark his second birthday.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6 2019 at 5.26am, weighing 7lb 3oz.
