‘Grumpy’ Prince William will try to use polo match with Prince Harry to fix royal feud

Prince William attended Archie Harrison’s christening on Saturday but the Duke of Cambridge was accused of being “grumpy” in the pictures released by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s two-month-old son was christened at Windsor Castle on Saturday and released two pictures from the event amid major criticism over their decision to keep the baptism private. But, royal fans were critical of Prince William’s facial expressions in one of the photos.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, Russell Myers, the Daily Mirror’s Royal Editor pointed out Prince William looked “grumpy”.

Mr Myers also claimed Prince Harry and Prince William were scheduled to attend a polo match later in the week which would be helpful to work on their relationship.

He said: “What a lovely touch from Kate Middleton, that she wore the same earrings that Diana had worn to Harry’s christening.

“They all look fantastic, apart from William, he looks a bit grumpy. He has been criticised a little bit.

“They are knocking back during the week together, they are going to be at a polo match – maybe that will squash the beef.”

Royal commentators have repeatedly said Prince Harry and Prince William have a strained relationship which reignited after a conversation the Duke of Cambridge had with his brother about Meghan before the pair married.

Harry and William will attend their first joint event of the year at a polo event this week and are due to take part in a polo day named after late Leicester City owner Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who died in a tragic helicopter crash in October.

Meghan and Harry delighted fans over the weekend by posting two pictures of Archie’s christening on Instagram.

The post has received over 2.5million likes and shows Harry and Meghan, who is holding baby Archie, alongside Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

Standing behind them in the castle’s Green Drawing Room are Prince Charles, Prince William, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

Another image is a black-and-white shot of Meghan gazing at Harry as she holds little Archie in the grounds of the royal residence.

But, online commentators were quick to criticised Prince William for looking ‘sour’ in the post.

One wrote: “Did you see how the body language was in the pic? Huge space in between the two couples and William looks so sour in the face!”

Another added: “Kate doesn’t have a real smile on her face. She looks pained. William looks like he smelled something terrible. They don’t look thrilled to be there.”

Alongside the post in Instagram, the Sussex Royal account said: “This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.

“Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie.”
