Revelling as customers will now be charged for using data abroad by some telecommunication companies, Peter Kyle, Labour MP for Hove and Portslade was silenced by Brexit supporters following his tweet. He said on Twitter: “£2 per day to use your phone in the EU. “Another broken Brexit promise.”
Hitting back at the Remainer MP, one Brexiteer claimed his wages have already gone up due to the UK’s departure from the EU, thus rendering the increased charge meaningless.
They said: “My wages have increased massively.”
Another claimed the increased roaming charge is of little significance given the pandemic.
Chris Smith said: “If I’m spending a grand on a holiday I’m not too fussed about another £20 if I separately want to speak to anyone back home; there are bigger issues than this.”
Another said: “Who promised no roaming charges?
“Pretty obvious they were going to be coming in.”
However, one user hinted he may leave Vodafone following their decision to charge for data abroad.
He said: “Looks like I will have to leave Vodafone. This is just greed.”

From January, Vodafone announced it will charge users £2 a day to use data in the EU.
Users can buy a 15-day bundle which takes the cost to £1 a day to use their allowance on the continent.
Despite companies claiming they would not increase prices post-Brexit, Vodafone has brought in the new rule change for those who have moved to new contracts or anyone who has upgraded their plan on August 11.
Vodafone said in a statement: “Rather than have all of our customers affected by including the additional costs of roaming into all of our tariffs, customers will be able to choose a plan that comes with roaming included, or purchase an additional roaming pass.

“Existing customers will not be impacted by these changes while they remain on their current price plan, and roaming in the Republic of Ireland will still be included for all customers.”
Vodafone is now the second company to announce roaming charges.
BT-owned, EE announced in June it will charge customers travelling to the EU from next January.
These changes will only affect those who have started a plan post-July 7 2021.
O2 has not announced changes but allows a data fair-use limit of 25GB with anyone exceeding that charged £3.50 per GB.
Three has now cut its fair-use data limit to 12GB from 20GB for those travelling in Europe.
Uswitch mobile analyst Ernest Doku, said: “In the aftermath of Brexit, the UK’s biggest mobile providers all said that they had no immediate plans to change their charging models for consumers roaming within the EU.
“It’s disappointing for consumers to see that the situation looks to be shifting, with a risk that roaming at no additional cost could soon be a distant memory for UK residents.”
