Girl, 14, abused and burned alive before brother found her remains in furnace

A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped and burned alive before her brother discovered her jewelry and remains inside a furnace.

The girl went missing after leaving the house to take care of her family’s goats.

Police in India have charged 11 men over the attack in Rajasthan.

Officers told Times of India: ‘The girl’s brother saw several charcoal furnaces set up by the people of a nomadic community.

‘Smoke billowing from one of the kilns drew his attention and made him suspicious as they were not active in the evening.

‘He rummaged through the kiln with a stick and sifted through the charred items.’

The brother found a bracelet he gifted to his sister just a few days earlier.

Police later identified body parts and the victims clothing and shoes.

They later confirmed the victim was still alive when she was set on fire.

The horrifying attack has caused outrage across the country.

In July 15,000 people joined a sit-in protest in Manipur after two women were paraded around naked by a mob.

The victims, who belong to the Christian Kuki minority group, were filmed being marched through a village by a crowd of men from the Hindu Meitei majority group known on May 3.

The footage shows the pair being pushed around, dragged and groped by the men, one of whom threatened to ‘kill’ them, and were eventually led into a field.

Police believe one of the women was then gang-raped, and that a third woman, who is not seen in the video, was also forced to strip.
