Girl, 12, was ‘chest high in water’ before she died in Bournemouth beach tragedy
Sunnah Khan, who lost her life on Wednesday after an incident at Bournemouth beach, was reportedly chest-deep in the sea before tragedy struck.
The 12-year-old girl from High Wycombe was in the water near the Victorian pier on May 31 afternoon when she was mysteriously pulled under the sea.
The girl was fatally injured as was 17-year-old Joe Abbess, who had gone to the beach to spend the afternoon with friends.
Sunnah had gone to the beach with her siblings and dad Asim Khan, The Sun wrote.
Alongside the report the water was at the height of Sunnah’s chest, the publication also wrote her heartbroken father watched on as rescuers battled to save her.
Despite the best efforts of lifeguards and emergency services, the children died in hospital that same day.
Eight other people were injured on Wednesday. A police investigation into what happened is ongoing.
On Monday, an inquest opening in Bournemouth heard the two youngsters had died of drowning, amid speculation they got caught in a riptide.
