Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39, and Prince William, 39, are among parents across the UK to have enjoyed a staycation with their children this year. Rather than travelling abroad, they are understood to be holidaying off the coast of Cornwall on the Isles of Scilly with Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three.
This summer isn’t the first time the Cambridges have headed to the secluded spot for a family break and William and Kate were spotted cycling on the private island of Tresco by locals last year.
One onlooker said at the time: “William and Kate were riding their bicycles, having a laugh. They looked so happy enjoying the weather.
“I did do a double-take. They were really friendly and said hello.”
The Isles of Scilly have long since been a favourite getaway of the royals and William went there as a child with his brother Prince Harry, 36, and their parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
While Kate, William and the children are expected to return to Anmer Hall in Norfolk at the end of the week, they could take another trip before the summer is over.
The Queen is currently at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands having travelled there in late July.
She usually receives visits from family members throughout her time there and the Cambridges have been regulars in the past.
Given this is the Queen’s first Balmoral holiday since her husband Prince Philip’s death she made be glad of the company.
Following George, Charlotte and Louis’s last visit to Aberdeenshire one royal insider claimed they had been well looked after by their older cousin Lady Louise Windsor.

A Source told the Sun at the time: “The Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James.
“Louise also endeared herself to everyone by looking after William and Kate’s children when they were up here.
“Louise loves drawing and sketching and was very patiently trying to get Charlotte to do pictures of rabbits and deer.”
George and Charlotte are both pupils at Thomas’s Battersea primary school and are due back for the autumn term on September 8.
Louis began nursery this year and will also be expected back in class in autumn.
During term time the Cambridges are based at Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace, London.
However, they usually spend the school holidays at their rural residence Anmer Hall.
