Last Saturday, it is believed Kate, 39, and William, 39 treated their beloved brood to a half-term holiday break. Images surfaced on Saturday of an excited Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, at Heathrow Airport with their mother and father.
While it is not known where the Cambridges jetted off to, the fact they were all seen travelling together means they broke a strict royal rule.
The royals were spotted outside the Windsor Suite, an exclusive area of Britain’s busiest airport reserved solely for high-profile celebrities and officials.
It is not the first time the young royals have been seen travelling with their parents but to do so they had to seek special permission from the Queen.
The Royal Family’s press office told Newsround: “They had to ask the Queen for permission, but she said yes.
“Royal heirs have travelled together in the past, it is something that the Queen has the final say on.”
A long-standing rule stipulates senior members of the Firm are not permitted to fly together in case catastrophe strikes, putting the lineage of the entire Royal Family in peril.
The tradition means Prince William and Prince Charles are forbidden from flying together.
But the Duke of Cambridge was granted special permission from the Queen to bend the rules before when his son George was only nine months old.
The allowance was made for when the Cambridges travelled to Australia and New Zealand back in 2014.
It comes as Kate and William are readying to make an appearance at the COP26 summit in Glasgow next week.
They will join Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in a Royal Family entourage being dubbed the “new Fab Four”.
The Queen was due to attend but has been ordered to rest by her doctors after falling ill.
Her Majesty was rushed to hospital as a precaution where she spent a brief overnight stay.
She is now recuperating at home in Windsor and is carrying out virtual engagements.
Providing an update on the Queen’s health, Boris Johnson said she was in “on very good form”.
Speaking after his weekly audience with her Majesty, he said: “I spoke to her Majesty and she’s on very good form.
“She’s just got to follow the advice of her doctors and get some rest.
“I think that’s the important thing. I think the whole country wishes her well.”
Addressing world leaders ahead of COP26, Prince Charles also warned the world was facing a “last-chance saloon” as the future of humanity and nature is at stake.

The future king argued that now is the time to put aside differences and grasp what he described as a “unique opportunity” for a so-called green recovery in order to save the planet.
Speaking to the G20 summit in Rome on Sunday, he said: “Ladies and gentlemen, Cop26 begins in Glasgow tomorrow.
“Quite literally, it is the last-chance saloon. We must now translate fine words into still finer actions.
“As the enormity of the climate challenge dominates people’s conversations, from newsrooms to living rooms, and as the future of humanity and nature herself are at stake, it is surely time to set aside our differences and grasp this unique opportunity to launch a substantial green recovery by putting the global economy on a confident, sustainable trajectory and, thus, save our planet.”
