Genoveva Casanova denies affair rumours with Prince Frederick despite pictures
Prince Frederik of Denmark has been embroiled in a royal scandal after pictures of him with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova were published by Lecturas magazine.
The 47-year-old reality star has denied allegations of a romance, despite the photographs showing her together with the royal on the streets of Madrid.
The magazine claims that the Danish heir spent the night at Ms Casanova’s home – but the photos just show them side by side.
In a statement, she categorically denies that anything untoward took place and instead insisted that they are just “friends”.
Ms Casanova told Vanitatis: “I want to make it very clear that I have no relationship with him, as some suggest.

We are friends and the photos prove nothing. Except for those who want to distort the images and see something where there is nothing. We have common friends and I am not going to tell who my friends are.”
She added: “Do you think I was going to walk with him in a public place in Madrid if there was a relationship beyond friendship? The malicious comments that can be made hurt me deeply.”
The divorcee made similar comments to Diez Minutos, and said: “There is no romantic relationship, of course, we have many friends in common.”
She has urged the publisher and magazine responsible for the information to issue a correction.

Crown Prince Frederik’s trip to Spain was a private one to enjoy art exhibitions, watch flamenco and visit new restaurans, according to Hola!.
They claim he was due to attend the Picasso exhibition with a mutual friend he shares with Ms Casanova, but when they pulled out at the last minute she accompanied him instead. They then walked through El Retiro Park and went for dinner together.
The release of the images coincided with Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary welcoming the Spanish royals on a state visit to Denmark.
Princess Mary has kept calm despite the rumours surrounding her husband, and carried out her royal duties as normal.
On Wednesday she visited Copenhagen’s Centre for Danish Architecture as she hosted Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia on the third day of their state visit.
