Prince Harry has come under fire since his publisher Penguin House announced the Duke of Sussex is going ahead with his bombshell tell-all memoir. After the Queen’s death in early September, royal commentators speculated Harry could give up on his book – either edit it or scrap it altogether – to avoid a direct confrontation with the Royal Family. GB News host Nana Akua views Harry’s decision as a betrayal of the royals and the British people.

Ms Akua started her tirade against Harry by saying: “Harry has run away [from Britain] for privacy. He is now selling his soul to make ends meet because he has finally discovered that things cost money – especially if you want to live next door to Oprah.

“It [Harry’s memoir] should be called: ‘Spare us! Spare us the detail!’ I am absolutely not helping to fund this lifestyle whinging.

“And out of the many millions that he is going to get from the book to soften the blow and make him look a little kinder, a proportion of the proceeds will be going to charity.”

A total of £1.8million from the proceeds of the book sales will be donated to the charities Sentebale and WellChild.

The GB News host said: “He knows all about charity. The British taxpayer has been funding him for years.

“And in my view, he has pretty much turned his back on this country.

“It is reported that the tone of the book changed from its original conception. Very wise!”

Ms Akua said: “But now, it is a remarkably moving personal journey from trauma to healing, ending with the eternal power of love over greed.

“He calls this healing. A clear rift between himself and his family, and passing on his trauma to the mini-book to be released only months after his father lost his mother.”

“How ungrateful? There’s nothing like pulling up the drawbridge after you have left the castle.”

Prince Harry’s memoir, set to be published on January 10, will be titled “Spare” in reference to the concept of “the heir and the spare” or “the spare to the heir” – a common refrain to describe the monarch and their sibling.

In the old days, disease was rampant and would cause the death of the heir to the throne, making siblings – “spares” – necessary to ensure the Royal Family’s line. In this case, Prince Harry endorses the role of the spare while Prince William is the heir to the throne.

The memoir, the first in a multi-book deal with Penguin Random House, was originally scheduled for late 2022. But following the Queen’s death, Prince Harry got cold feet about the memoir’s content, book industry executives with knowledge of the process told The Times.
