Galloway savages European parliament ‘bureaucracy’ in BRUTAL rant – ‘Lipstick on the pig’
Former Independent MP George Galloway broke out into an enraged rant as he complained about the “enormous” power the European Commission has over other EU nations. The Brexiteer added that the European Parliament existed only as “lipstick” as it had no actual power. Mr Galloway began by saying: “The European Parliament is a rubber stamp assembly.
“It exists only as lipstick on the pig of EU power, it has no other purpose.
“It is not a real Parliament, it has no power to initiate legislation and it exists only to rubber-stamp the decisions of the European Union Commission.
‘That is unelected, and cannot be removed.
“Nobody knows one percent of the membership of the Commission though it wields enormous power over the economy, the society, the politics and the democracy of all EU countries.
“This is a Potemkin village.
“It looks like a Parliament, it talks like a Parliament but actually it is one dimensional.
“Behind the screen, there is nothing at all.”
With upcoming European elections, tensions have begun to rise as Leave supporters are forced to more closely scrutinise the EU instead of cut ties with the bloc.
Theresa May’s failure to deliver Brexit has ultimately resulted in politicians being forced to stand as MEP for their respective parties.
The inability for the Tory government to implement Brexit has seen the party lose voters to Nigel Farage’s more popular Brexit Party.
Mr Farage’s party is expected to surpass both the Labour and Tory party in the EU elections and has vowed to “change politics forever” on May 23.
