Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced a new jobs support scheme to top up wages and replace furlough for the coming winter.

It comes after new coronavirus restrictions were announced across the UK on Wednesday by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the first ministers of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Chancellor said: ‘As I have said throughout this crisis I cannot save every business I cannot save every job no chancellor could but what we must do its deal with the real problems businesses are facing now.’
