Frustrated drivers share horror stories from 31 mile queue on M25
People were stuck in 31 mile tailbacks on the M25 after a three-way crash involving a jackknifed lorry at 5am this morning.
Motorists complained about being stranded in the heat hour hours with no food or water.
The lorry driver was airlifted to hospital after the crash with a London cab and a red Citoren.
Pictures of the jacknifed lorry crashing into the barriers at the side of the motorway have been shared on social media.
The clockwise section between junction 9 for Leatherhead and junction 10 for Wisley was closed until 3pm this afternoon while emergency services dealt with an diesel spill.
Drivers and passengers took to social media to complain about being trapped on the motorway, with some worried they were going to miss their flights at Heathrow Airport.
But some tried to make the best out of a bad situation after traffic came to a complete standstill.
One guy who got out of his car in standstill traffic to play with a VR headset.
Some just kicked back, stretched their legs and soaked up the sun.
The lorry driver was initially thought to have sustained life threatening injuries.
But Surrey Police have since said they were not as serious as they thought.
Those in the other two vehicles were not injured.
