The Big Issue founder was left a little worse for wear while addressing the Lords before admitting he was hungover from a Christmas party.
Baron John Bird, founder of the magazine that is sold by the homeless, was clamouring for a glass of water in the House of Lords in a savings and cost-cuttings debate.
Speaking to other members he said: ‘Sorry I must have a drop of water, last night unfortunately we had a Big Issue event, and it involved a lot of drink.’
This led to chuckles from other members of the debate, as Baron Bird bent down to pick up a glass from his seat.
Baron Bird seems to lose concentration for a split second while talking about the serious matters at hand.
After suffering from the classic dry-mouth, a tell-tale hangover sign for all ages, he goes over to his seat to get a sip from his glass.
He said: ‘And as I don’t normally drink, God bless me, anyway, so I’m here, I’ve got here.’
It looks like Baron Bird didn’t read Metro’s Christmas hangover guide.
