Former US National Guardsman who 'leaked classified documents' pleads not guilty
A former US Air National Guardsman accused of leaking classified documents has pleaded not guilty to six federal charges.
Jack Teixeira, 21, entered a not guilty plea to six counts of willfully retaining and transmitting national defense information in a Massachusetts court on Wednesday.
It comes six days after he was indicted by a federal grand jury in the case. Teixeira is accused of using his security clearance as a Massachusetts state guard systems administrator to obtain Pentagon records and illegally share them on social media sites.
Teixeira’s family on Wednesday stated that they ‘remain as committed as ever and our entire family continues to share complete and unwavering support of Jack’.
‘Jack will now have his day in court. And as we move through this process, we are hopeful that Jack will be getting the fair and just treatment he deserves,’ stated his family.
‘We realize there is a long road ahead, and we ask for your continued respect for our privacy during this difficult ordeal.’
Teixeira was arrested on April 13 at his North Dighton home and has been in custody since.
