Former Coronation Street actress Paula Williamson who married Charles Bronson found dead
Paula Williamson, the former Coronation Street actress who married notorious prisoner Charles Bronson, has been found dead.
The 38-year-old was discovered at a property in Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent, at around 7am this morning.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious, Staffordshire Police said.
Ms Williamson appeared in Coronation Street as an unnamed nurse three times between 2008 and 2012, and also appeared in the soaps Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.
But she was best known for marrying the criminal Charles Bronson roughly a year after she started visiting him in prison.
Bronson, who has changed his name to Charles Salvador, proposed to Ms Williamson in February 2017.
The pair married in a prison chapel in November that year.
Ms Williamson delivered a petition to 10 Downing Street a month later calling for her husband’s release.
Bronson filed for divorce in July last year after an image emerged of a man with his face pressed into Ms Williamson’s breasts in Tenerife.
Staffordshire Police said after the actress’ body was found on Monday: “A woman from Stoke-on-Trent who was found dead this morning has been named as Paula Williamson, aged 38.
“Paula’s body was found in a house on Gordon Avenue, Sneyd Green, at around 7am.
“A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
“A report is now being prepared for the coroners.”
Bronson, often referred to as “the most violent prisoner in Britain” was jailed for the second time in 1988 after planning a robbery.
His sentence was changed to life imprisonment after taking numerous hostages in confrontations with guards.
