#Foodie: Meghan Markle serves avocado on toast to celeb friend in London

While her account may have been closed upon her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan was able to provide something of a peek behind the curtain of her royal life via close pal and celebrity make-up artist Daniel Martin.

He used his Instagram account to share a photo of some avocado on toast he was treated to during his stay in London – with a silver platter adding a royal touch.

The healthy portion was accompanied by a large pot of tea and what appeared to be a selection of chocolate truffles wrapped up like a more expensive incarnation of a Ferrero Rocher.

According to Hello magazine, the sweets were from Fortnum & Mason and the teapot was from Soho Farmhouse, where it costs £25.

Mr Martin – who was behind Meghan’s wedding day make-up – uploaded the snap with the caption: “Thank you Meghan for being the consummate hostess this weekend and still being the #avocadotoast whisperer, YUM!”

He said it brought him “back to our Tig days” – a reference to a blog where Meghan often wrote about food – and also posted a smattering of emojis and hashtags, including the go-to #foodie.

While one of his followers hailed the well-known hipster brunch as looking “yummy”, another said it appeared “bland” and could have done with some “chopped red onion and diced pimento to give it some colour”.

Regardless of the critique, royal approval could prove to be a welcome boost to the reputation of the popular fruit, which has recently had its future as a trendy breakfast order cast into doubt.

Last month, several UK cafes announced that they were scrapping the fleshy fruits from their menus because of fears about the environment and sustainability.

Two of the charities Harry and Meghan asked well-wishers to donate to ahead of their Windsor wedding last May were focused on the environment, so the duchess may want to consider following in the footsteps of the Tincan Coffee cafe in Bristol and replacing avocado with pea guacamole.
