Five-year-old boy 'physically attacked by woman' outside GP surgery

An investigation has been launched after a woman allegedly verbally and physically abused a young boy dressed as a superhero in a car park.

CCTV was released after the shocking incident was reported to have happened outside Cranleigh Medical Practice in Surrey on Thursday, at around 4pm.

Officers said a 56-year-old woman has already been arrested for assault causing actual bodily harm.

But they are appealing for more witnesses to what happened and hope to track down another woman in connection with the case.

They have released CCTV images of the group shopping in the high street to see if anyone recognises them.

The second woman is described as white, wearing black trousers and a yellow short-sleeved top with ruffles over the shoulders.

The boy is described as white, aged between five and seven, with cropped, dark brown hair.

He was wearing a two-piece or onesie with Marvel character The Hulk on the front and long blue sleeves, and was also wearing Timberland-style boots.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: ‘Inquiries are ongoing and we are still looking for witnesses to this incident to help us identify the other parties involved.

‘If you saw or heard anything that might assist our investigation, please contact us on 101.’

Officers have described what happened as a ‘child protection incident’.

Witnesses can also share information anonymously through independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
