Five bombshells from Megxit book – including Harry’s fury with Charles
An exposive new book on the Royal Family has blown the lid on the Megxit summit and other major events in the split between the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace. Robert Jobson’s ‘Our King’ has already exposed several bombshell royal revelations ahead of its release. The new biography of King Charles III promises for inside scoops on the monarch’s life amid the split with Harry and Meghan before their move to the US.
Here are five of the most eyebrow-raising revelations from serialised extracts from Our King published by the Daily Mail.
Prince Harry’s fury with King Charles over Meghan Markle
The Duke of Sussex was said to have been “infuriated” with his father when the now-monarch revealed he would not pay for Meghan Markle’s expenses ahead of their wedding.
Jobson wrote: “Then Charles dropped a bombshell, saying he couldn’t afford to pay for Meghan in the future as well as for Camilla, and for William and Catherine and their young family.”
The incident took place during a meeting between the royal princes, and Charles, in the run-up to the big day.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot at Windsor in May 2018.

Kate Middleton’s Windsor walk with Harry and Meghan
The Princess of Wales found it difficult to greet well-wishers outside Windsor Castle following the Queen’s death last September when the former “Fab Four” made a rare show of unity.
Sources close to Kate claim the mother-of-three found the walkabout one of the “hardest things” as she tried to put aside ill-feelings.
Jobson revealed: “[She] later admitted to a senior royal that, such was the ill feeling between the two couples, the joint walkabout was one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do.”
Queen swept Sandringham meeting room for bugs
It has even been claimed that Britain’s longest-reigning monarch had Sandringham Palace’s library swept for bugs ahead of a summit to discuss Megxit.
The Queen, who chaired the special meeting in January 2020, was said to have ordered the room to be given a once over for any recording devices which could be leaked to the press, Jobson argued.
Charles, William and Harry were all in attendance but the Queen is said to have refused Meghan joining the discussion via video link over security fears.
Meghan ‘surprised’ Queen with ‘curt three-word reply’
The Duchess of Sussex left the Queen stunned after she offered her some useful advice.
The pair were believed to be having a one-to-one chat at the beginning of the actress’ relationship with Prince Harry.
The late monarch is reported to have told her future granddaughter-in-law of her delight that the Duke had “finally found love”.
But Jobson claimed the Queen advised Meghan to spend some time with Sophie, Countess of Wessex, for support, to which she replied, “I’ve got Harry”.
Queen became “tired” with Prince Harry’s outbursts
Queen Elizabeth was also said to have been left puzzled by exchanges between Prince Harry and his older brother Prince William.
The book claimed that the late monarch, who died in September aged 96, thought the Sussexes were “quite mad”.
The Queen held “great affection” for Harry but became “tired” listening to the couple’s criticisms of the Firm.
Queen Elizabeth also thought Harry was “so consumed” by his love for Meghan that it was “clouding his judgment”, Jobson alleged.
