First picture of Jed Foster as he arrives at court over PC Andrew Harper murder
The man charged with the murder of PC Andrew Harper has arrived at court.
Jed Foster, 20, was pictured in the back of a police van at Reading Magistrates Court over the killing of the newlywed police officer.
Andrew Harper, 28, was killed last Thursday evening after he was dragged under the wheels of a vehicle in the village of Sulhamstead, Berkshire, while responding to reports of a burglary.
Foster was charged with murder on Monday evening after investigators at Thames Valley Police were granted an extra 24 hours to question 10 suspects.
He was also charged with the theft of a quad bike.
PC Harper died from multiple injuries less than a month after marrying his wife, Lissie.
Within an hour of PC Harper’s killing, 10 men aged between 13 and 30 years had been arrested on suspicion of murder, many of them from a nearby caravan site in Burghfield Common.
The other nine have since been released on bail as investigations continue.
The officer was reportedly due to go on honeymoon this week with his new wife, who yesterday issued a heartfelt tribute calling PC Harper ‘the kindest, loveliest, most selfless person’.
Lissie added: ‘My darling boy I do not know how I will be able to survive without you.
‘Although we were married for only 28 days before you were cruelly taken away from me, my husband you were perfect.’
