Tesco has released images of its first-ever pub which is opening in honour of the coronation.

The King in the Castle in Farringdon, central London, is preparing to open its doors today for two days ahead of Saturday’s big ceremony.

All proceeds from sales will go to the supermarket’s charity partner, The Prince’s Trust, which supports young people across the UK was founded by the King in his former role.

The pub has been kitted out with Tesco colours, bunting, flowers and of course, food and drink from the supermarket.

The brand has encouraged people to ‘do good by going to the pub’.

Alessandra Bellini, chief customer officer at Tesco, said: ‘The coronation is a historic moment and we want to help our customers celebrate it.

‘As one of the most enduring parts of British culture, pubs have traditionally been an important part of local communities and so a pub felt like the perfect way to bring people together to mark this special occasion and enjoy delicious food.

‘What’s more, we’ll donate £250,000 from the proceeds of sales of our limited-edition coronation range in-store, along with all proceeds from the pub to the Prince’s Trust so we can all enjoy food that both tastes good and does good.

‘Tesco and the Prince’s Trust have worked together for five years, so this is a wonderful way for us highlight the incredible work that they do and help them to continue to support young people across the UK for many years to come.

‘Whether you’re planning to celebrate the coronation at home with your own party, or are joining us at our pub, we’ve made sure that everyone can enjoy a royally good weekend.’

The daytime menu at the pub includes a royal high tea, which features a tea-inspired cocktail served in a tea pot, along with cakes, scones, and classic sandwiches.

Coronation-themed ploughman’s platters, sandwiches and a vegan ‘Prince’s Crust’ pie will also be on offer.

The evening menu will be in a ‘gastropub style’ serving Camilla’s king prawn curry, a roast ‘sir-loin’ steak and cocktails including bellinis and gin martinis.

The menus have been inspired by things which are rumoured to be preferences of Charles, including ‘flexitarian’ eating.

The dishes are intended to be affordable, with snacks starting at 50p and full meals costing up to £10.

Table bookings sold out almost immediately but walk-ins are still available.

For those who can’t make it, Tesco has released the recipes online for some of the dishes set to be served at the pub. Some of the party staples, like pork pies and trifle, will also be available in stores.
