Fights break out at vigil for man, 26, found dead after 'serious assault'

Fighting broke out among a crowd of around 50 mourners who had gathered to pay their respects after a man was found dead in Newport.
Five teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 26-year-old man, named locally as Ryan O’Connor, was attacked in Balfe Road in the Alway area at around 9pm on Thursday.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene but the victim died there a short while later.
Dozens gathered for a vigil on Friday before small pockets of violence broke out.
Officers could be seen trying to control sections of the crowd, with images and video footage reportedly showing one man on the ground as another is wrestled to the floor while trying to flee.
Two others could be seen chasing each other before grappling and being restrained, WalesOnline reports. Others could be heard shouting and screaming.
Tributes to Mr O’Connor, known by many as ‘Apple’, could be seen lining the railings along Balfe Road.
A dispersal order was later imposed following reports of ‘disorder’ in the area.
Gwent Police said an investigation was launched after the victim was found unconscious and unresponsive in Balfe Road just after 9pm on Thursday.
Two 19-year-old men from Cardiff, an 18-year-old man from Cardiff, a 17-year-old boy from Caerphilly and a 17-year-old boy from Cardiff have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
All five remain in police custody and inquiries are continuing.
Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward, especially anyone who may have dashcam footage from Balfe Road – particularly of the roundabout and the surrounding area between 8.45pm and 9.20pm on Thursday.
