Sarah was spotted at the Geneva Airport as she was heading to her flight home with her loved ones. The Duchess of York briefly spoke to the press as her skiing holiday was coming to an end.
Sarah, also known as Fergie by friends and fans, wore a black dress paired with a turquoise blazer and a matching scarf as she carried her trolley and handbag inside the airport.
Respectful of the Covid regulations in place in Switzerland, she was also wearing a black facemask.
The Sun reported Fergie wished its staff “good morning” before heading for her British Airways flight.
She then said: “Onwards and upwards.”
The publication also reported Fergie did not answer questions regarding Prince Andrew’s legal case in New York and the sale of the Swiss chalet they co-own.
The Duchess was in the company of her two beloved daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Eugenie was photographed holding in her arms her baby boy, August Philip Hawke, born in February last year.
The princesses’ husbands – Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank – were also travelling with them.
The tight-knit family has been holidaying at the Swiss resort of Verbier, where they reportedly arrived on Boxing Day.
The departure of the royals comes as the Mirror reported the claim Prince Andrew is trying to force through the sale of his and Sarah’s seven-bedroom £16.6million Swiss Chalet Helora.
The publication added revenues from this sale could be Andrew’s only way of funding a potential out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre.
A source told the Mirror the Duke of York could make a last-minute out-of-court settlement to avert any more reputational damage.
They added: “It is crunch time for Andrew on several fronts.
“He is meeting all the costs himself so he needs to raise cash fast to pay bills which are increasing by the day.
“If there was the potential to settle, well, that is an option, but it is in no doubt that the Queen would not assist him in doing so.”
A source with knowledge of the proceedings said “no discussions have been had regarding a financial settlement”.
But the option “would always remain an option on the table” as “the vast majority of US civil litigation is settled out of court”, they claimed.
Prince Andrew is being sued by Ms Giuffre, who in August 2021 filed a civil lawsuit against the royal accusing him of “committing sexual assault and battery” when she was a teenager.
In her legal action, lodged in New York under the Child Victims Act, Ms Giuffre claimed the Duke of York sexually assaulted her on three occasions while she was a teenage sex slave who had been trafficked by paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The court documents also allege Andrew knew she was underage and that no consent was given.
Prince Andrew has repeatedly and vehemently denied her claims.
Earlier this week, the Duke and Ms Giuffre’s lawyers attended a hearing in which Andrew’s legal team argued in favour of the civil lawsuit being thrown out.
The judge has yet to make his decision known.
Sarah, who bought the chalet with Andrew in 2014, has recently spoken warmly about her former husband.
Appearing on the Italian talk show Porta a Porta, the Duchess was asked by journalist Bruno Vespa why her marriage with the Duke had ended.
She replied: “Who said it’s finished?
“You know Bruno, the love we have for each other is very different from others, we share a very real respect for each other and real love for each other.
“It’s our fairytale and we honour each other. This is what we practice and we make compromises.”
Sarah and Andrew divorced in 1996, 10 years after they tied the knot, but they are understood to have remained in a good relationship for the sake of their daughters.
