A study shows that Bella — for supermodel and influencer Bella Hadid— and Alexander — for the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen — are the most popular baby names based on the fashion industry.

The research, conducted by CasinoScores, analysed data from ONS and baby name websites The Bump and Nameberry to find out what celebrities in the fashion world have the most power over parents-to-be when it comes to deciding a name for their baby.

For girls, Bella is the absolute leader. Bella Hadid, from the Kardashian clan — she is Kendal Jenner’s ex stepsister — has more than 45 million followers on Instagram. With her wide reach, her name has bet the rest within the fashion world.

Next on the list is Anna. One of the fashion industry’s most dominant figures is American Vogue’s Editor in Chief Anna Wintour.

Wintour has been the chairwoman of the Met Gala event since 1995 (excluding 1996 and 1998), meaning that she oversees key elements of the event, including its star-studded guest list.

A  spokesperson for the study said: “With 767 articles written about the MET Gala in the last year alone, it is clear to see the influence of the fashion industry is not dwindling.”

This week she could be seen in a spectacular Oscar de la Renta gown, chairing, once again, fashion’s big night out.

Naomi, on spot number three, has seen a sharp rise in web searches on baby name sites since the announcement of the birth of British supermodel Naomi Campbell’s baby daughter.

Campbell reined the 90s supermodel era alongside other big names including Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford — whose daughter’s name Kaia made it onto the top 10 list — and Linda Evangelista.

She brought her daughter, whose name she has yet to reveal, to the world in secret.

Campbell’s big days in the modelling industry might be over, but her influence has proven resistant to time.

On the boys’ front, Alexander is a clear winner. The name is well-known in the fashion industry thanks to the late star designerAlexander McQueen and the designer and former creative director at Balenciaga Alexander Wang.

McQueen passed away in 2010, yet his brand remains hugely popular.

Sarah Burton, designer and creative director of the Alexander McQueen house, designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s lace wedding dress in 2011. The memory of that day will be with the British people forever and the name Alexander, it seems, trapped in their minds.

The second most fashionable name for boys is Michael.

Michael Kors, famous for its signature bags, might be responsible for that.

John, Christian and Oscar are on spots three, four and five. John Galliano, Christian Dior, and Oscar de la Renta are big names that could have led fashion loving parents to make their choices.

Louis, Calvin, Tommy, Jimmy and Ralph complete the top 10 ranking of the UK’s most popular fashion names for boys.

For girls, it is Natalia, Stella, Heidi, Rosie, Lauren, Kaia and Kendall.
