The younger brother of fashion designer Lulu Guiness is thought to have hot himself dead aged 53.

Simon Rivett-Carnac, a partner in a top investment firm, was found dead outside his country home in Charlton, Wiltshire.

His wife Sarah found the father-of-two metres away from the house after the alarm was raised by their gardener.

An inquest in Salisbury was told on Friday that Mr Rivett-Carnac, from London, was found outside the rear of his second home at 11.45am on December 6 after a shotgun had been discharged.

His cause of death was a brain injury due to shotgun discharge through the mouth.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Wiltshire Police said: ‘There are no suspicious circumstances in relation to this death.’

They refused to say if he had a licence for the shotgun.

London based Sarasin and partners LLP said he ‘was a partner at the firm who joined in 1999 and made an exceptional contribution to the business.’

They added: ‘Simon was a wonderful colleague and friend and will be remembered for many qualities not least his outstanding sense of humour.

‘His passing will leave a huge hole in the lives of so many people and our thoughts are with his wife and their two sons.’
