Farage reveals ‘COY’ answers from private Trump meeting – ‘UK behind curve in EVERY way’
Nigel Farage recalled details from his private meeting on Tuesday with US President Donald Trump, revealing Americans are “very prepared for their side of the negotiation”. The Brexit Party leader claimed Britain is “behind the curve in every way”, adding perhaps others will “have tot are the initiative” to negotiate a trade deal between the UK and US. Speaking on his LBC radio show, Mr Farage revealed: “But what was most interesting about the meeting was the discussion of trade. And the extent to which I was left by both Donald Trump and Woody Johnson with the impression that the Americans are very, very prepared for their side of the negotiation, bear in mind all these things are a negotiation.
“13 different chapters where they have pretty much completed the work. When I asked the extent to which the British were ready for this, the answers I got back were pretty coy.
“I was left with the impression that we are behind the curve in every way.
“That perhaps after all these years as embers of the European Union we simply haven’t got people who are competent trade negotiates because it’s all been done for us by somebody else.
“I certainly am now very, very keen given this lack of preparedness, I’m now very keen to get a delegation of industrialists and business figures together to fly out to Washington DC, meet Bob Lighthizer, who is the Trump administration’s trade negotiator, and perhaps to start these discussions.

“If the Government can’t do it then maybe others will have to take that initiative.”
Mr Farage was spotted making his way to the US Ambassador’s house in London earlier on Tuesday, during President Trump’s three-day state visit to the UK.
The Brexit Party leader was photograhed as he arrived at Winfield House, the home of ambassador Woody Johnson, with Mr Farage seen arriving by car at the 12.5 acre estate.
After his low-key meeting with the president, Mr Farage took to Twitter, claiming the US leader is “behind Brexit”.
Mr Farage said: “Good meeting with President Trump – he really believes in Brexit and is loving his trip to London.”
The residence is where Donald Trump is staying during his three-day state visit.
The president’s stay at the property is seen as a break in tradition, with previous presidents staying at Buckingham Palace.
Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump Talso stayed at Winfield House during their official visit to the UK in July 2018.
As he boarded Air Force One on Monday morning to fly to the UK, the Republican hinted he would make time to visit Boris Johnson and Mr Farage, who he aid were both “friends of mine”.
He said: “Well, I may. Nigel Farage is a friend of mine, Boris is a friend of mine.
“They’re two very good guys, very interesting people. Nigel’s had a big victory. He’s picked up 32 percent of the vote starting from nothing.
“And I think they’re big powers over there, I think they’re doing a good job.”
