Family pay tribute to 'bubbly and beautiful' girl, 9, who died in crash
The family of a nine-year-old girl who died after hit by a car have described her as ‘bright and beautiful.’
Alice Williams was struck while using a pedestrian crossing on Kings Cross Street in Halifax, Yorkshire.
She had been out walking with family when the collision took place.
Investigations continue into the crash, and a 53-year-old man remains on police bail.
In a tribute released this evening, Alice’s family said: ‘Alice was a bright, loving and beautiful girl, who brought her family and friends joy every day.
‘We desperately miss her and will never be able to comprehend her shocking death.’
Jenna Walker, Headteacher at St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy where Alice attended, also shared a tribute to the youngster.
She said: ‘Alice was a genuinely lovely little girl. She was someone who was gentle, kindhearted, and full of smiles.
‘Her loss has left a huge hole in our school and our community, and we will continue to remember and honour her life. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.’
Enquiries remain ongoing with the West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team following the crash on July 8.
Alice was rushed to hospital but died on July 12 as a result of the injuries sustained.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information regarding the collision, who haven’t yet spoken to police, to come forward.
In particular, anyone who was travelling away from Halifax in the opposite direction or anyone with dash cam footage has been urged to come forward.
