Family of missing estate agent told of body found washed up on beach

The parents of missing estate agent Chelsie Dack, who vanished from her home last month, have been informed after police found a body washed up on a beach.

Suffolk Police said a member of the public called the emergency services at 8pm on Monday to report the discovery at Sizewell in Suffolk – roughly 30 miles from the 23-year-old’s home of Gorleston in Norfolk.

A post-mortem examination to establish the identity of the woman has yet to take place.

The cause of death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious, police said. The coroner’s office has been informed.

Ms Dack was reported missing at 3am on April 20.

CCTV footage showed her walking towards Gorleston pier, where her mobile phone was found by a member of the public later that morning.

Police called off the search three weeks ago, saying the ‘most likely scenario’ was that she entered the water.

Great Yarmouth policing commander, Superintendent Mike Britton, said at the time: ‘We’ve carried out extensive local searches involving dedicated search teams, dog units, National Police Air Service, the coastguard, RNLI and Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue and the coastguard helicopter.

‘Unfortunately, there has been no sign of Chelsie and she hasn’t used her bank accounts or social media accounts since the early hours of Monday morning.

‘This, combined with CCTV inquiries, leads us to believe the most likely scenario is that she has entered the water.’

A Facebook post, shared by Chelsie’s mother Dawn Howell at the time of her daughter’s disappearance, said it is ‘strongly believed Chelsie has taken her own life’.

The post added: ‘The family are together and heartbroken, they are overwhelmed by all the support and love from friends, family and the community.

‘They ask that you respect their privacy at this very sad time, but to know that they are still holding on to a glimmer of hope.

‘Love and best wishes. They thank each and every one of us in helping find our beautiful Chelsie.’
