Family left 'broken' after woman beaten to death on Boxing Day

A family has been left ‘broken’ after a woman was beaten to death on Boxing Day.

Kirsty Louise Ashley, 29, was found dead just before midday at a house in Newham, east London.

Blunt force trauma was given as her cause of death following a post-mortem examination.

Yahya Aboukar, 26, has been charged with murdering Kirsty at the property in Earlham Grove on Sunday. He appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court today.

It’s thought Aboukar and the victim were known to each other.

Kirsty’s sister Kyomi said it ‘kills her’ to know her sibling is gone in a heartbreaking tribute on Facebook today.

She wrote: ’Yesterday me and my family had some awful news, my sister Kirsty Louise Ashley has sadly died in an awful disaster.

‘We are all broken. And would like some time to grieve. I’m writing this as it’s now in the news and her name is out there.

’29 yr old isn’t no life to live and for her life to be taken away it kills me knowing. RIP Kirsty we will get you back up here as soon as we can.’

Someone named Chloe commented describing Kirsty as ‘a lovely lass’, while a man named Ricky said she would ‘always be remembered’.

Someone who lives in the area where Kirsty’s body was found said: ‘I was in my doorway and saw loads of police around yesterday on Boxing Day.

‘I’ve tried to ask what happened but the police haven’t said anything. It’s a rough area round here.’

Another resident who has lived on Earlham Grove for 20 years said: ‘I’ve just got back from seeing family. Didn’t think anything like this would have happened.

‘Heart-breaking. The last thing you want to see, especially around Christmas.

‘I feel for her family. I have no clue who she was as it seems a lot of people come and go from all the properties round here. My heart goes out to her.’
