Family Guy spoof of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle branded ‘tasteless’
GB News: Meghan and Harry are ‘hypocrisy upon hypocrisy!’
Family Guy’s sketch mocking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has caused a stir, with one commentator saying the hilarious spoof was “tasteless and unfunny”.
The comedy show mocked the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, saying that the couple received millions from Netflix for “no one knows what”.
Meghan is heard in the clip telling Harry: “Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco.”
In an apparent swipe at the Royal Family, Harry’s spoof replies: “I shouldn’t have left the made-up nonsense”.
This clip comes after South Park mocked the Sussexes in a sketch earlier this year, with the parody Sussexes going on an “international privacy tour”.
Analysing the latest cartoon dig at Harry and Meghan, showbiz reporter Stephanie Takyi told GB News: “This is just a continuation of the mocking the Sussexes, Harry and Meghan.
“We saw it on South Park earlier this year, and now it is time for Family Guy to have their turn.”
She added: “I found this clip quite tasteless and unfunny… there has been this breeding ground of trying to build toxicity against Prince Harry and Meghan for their choice to leave the Royal Family.
“They have said they no longer want to use the British taxpayers’ money to fund their lifestyle, I don’t who would turn down a rumoured £77milllion from Netflix to set out your side of the story.
“Everybody is benefiting from using Harry and Meghan, whether it is magazines, books or talk shows.
“It’s okay for everyone else to use them and slate them, but when they want to do their own projects they come under scrutiny.”
But royal commentator Michael Cole said this sketch was funny.

He also lamented Harry for his “hypocrisy” on climate change. He said: “For satire to work the target has to be instantly recognisable and the joke has to be known to everyone.
“The only question is, it is funny? It is funny. The Sussexes are a gift that goes on giving. This day last week, eco-warrior Prince Harry was at the Formula 1 race in Austin, Texas.
“If there’s a less eco-friendly event than Formula 1 racing I don’t know what it is.
“Then they go to an eco conference in New York, then they take a private jet to St Vincent and the Grenadines for a little holiday. This is hypocrisy.”
