Factory worker hit by van in Nottingham allowed home from hospital

A factory worker who was allegedly hit by a van during the Nottingham attacks has been discharged from the hospital, the hospital has confirmed. Wayne Birkett, 58, was among the three people rushed to hospital after reportedly being hit by a stolen van in the city centre after three others were stabbed to death in the incident early on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) confirmed that one person had been discharged and two others remained in stable condition in the hospital, reported Nottinghamshire Live.

Mr Birkett was originally said to be fighting for his life after he was injured in a collision with a van in Milton Street on Tuesday, June 13.

Leeds United fan Wayne was reportedly on his way to work when he was struck by the vehicle.

The suspect was also alleged to have tried to run down two other pedestrians in the Sherwood Street area.
