Eyewitness describes ‘blood-curdling screams’ heard as ‘man and woman stabbed’
Nottingham: Eyewitness shares footage of arrest
A bystander has recalled the terrifying moment he witnessed a man stab two people in Nottingham. The eyewitness, a man who said he wished to remain anonymous, was on Ilkeston Road this morning when he heard “blood-curdling screams”. He detailed the distressing incident, which he initially thought was a “boyfriend-girlfriend argument”, as it took place before police attended the scene in the early hours on Tuesday.
The anonymous man was at home when he heard the screams this morning and told the BBC he looked out of his window as the chilling screams pierced the air.
As he peered outside, he said he saw a “black guy dressed all in black with a hood and rucksack grappling with some people”.
He added: “She was screaming ‘Help!’ I just wish I’d shouted something out of the window to unnerve the assailant.”
He explained that he saw both the man and the woman being stabbed multiple times.
He said: “I saw him stab the lad first and then the woman. It was repeated stabbing – four or five times. The lad collapsed in the middle of the road.”
“The girl stumbled towards a house and didn’t move. The next minute she had disappeared down the side of a house, and that’s where they found her.
“I’d say it all happened within five or six minutes. The attacker then just walked off up Ilkeston Road towards town, as calm as anything.”
After witnessing the horror unfold this morning, the man said he called 999, and police arrived on the scene within five minutes.

He added that paramedics attended the pair and attempted to revive them for approximately 40 minutes.
Police said they arrived at Ilkeston Road “just after 4am” and found two people “dead in the street”, and later found a third body.
Officers were later called to a following incident on Milton Street, where a van “had attempted to run over three people”.
Other witnesses described similarly distressing scenes as they watched the van hit two people.
A woman – known only as Frances – told Sky News she watched the van hit a man and woman on her way to work.
She said both people were conscious following the collision, which happened near Theatre Royal in Nottingham city centre.
The woman, she said, was “in pain from the impact” but could speak after hitting her head, while the gentleman, who “took the full brunt of the van”, was still awake.
Police said people who were run over by the van have since been taken to hospital.
