Three vehicles went up in a ball of flames following reports of an explosion near a shopping centre in Edinburgh today.

Eyewitnesses say they saw gas canisters exploding while on the back of one of the vehicles.

Dramatic photos taken from far away show thick plumes of black smoke billowing into the air.

Fire crews and police have been rushed to the scene near the Westside Plaza at around midday. It is not known if anyone has been injured.
