Ex-England striker Andy Carroll's £130,000 Mercedes 'wrecked in head-on crash'

Former England striker Andy Carroll has escaped uninjured from an apparent head-on car crash in a quiet residential street.

The 33-year-old was pictured standing near his wrecked £130,000 Mercedes GLS after it reportedly shunted a Ford Fiesta in Romford, East London.

He was said to have looked ‘dazed and in utter shock’ as he climbed out of the vehicle before checking on the Ford’s occupants.

Photos on social media appeared to show the luxury car with a crumpled front missing a wheel, which had rolled onto its side nearby.

The Ford appeared to be missing a door and had come to a stop against the pavement facing perpendicularly into the road.

Mr Carroll, a male occupant of the Mercedes and two occupants of the Ford were uninjured, while a male passenger of the Ford in his 50s was taken to hospital complaining of chest pains, The Sun reports.

Local resident Steve Garboulb told newspaper: ‘It was lucky no one died.

‘The Fiesta and Mercedes collided head-on and another vehicle was hit in the carnage. It was a freak accident.’

A neighbour named John Cooper added: ‘I heard the most awful bang. I saw Andy Carroll emerge from his vehicle. He was wandering around in a daze.’

The Metropolitan Police have been approached for comment.
