Europe’s future monarchs: Royal children from Prince George to Princess Estelle

The world has become transfixed with the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s three children and the arrival of the Meghan and Harry’s first-born Archie-Harrison. However our European neighbours also have the next generation of King’s and Queen’s to take over the throne, from Spain all the way to Luxembourg.

Here is a list of Europe’s future King and Queen’s:

Prince George of UK, five

Prince George is the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The five-year-old is third-in-line to the throne after Prince Charles and Prince William.

Prince George is the older brother of Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis.

Princess Leonor of Spain, 13

Princess Leonor is the heir to the Spanish throne and eldest child of Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI.

She was born two years before her sister Infanta Sofía, 12.

To mark her 13th birthday she gave her first public address as she read out the nations Magna Cart, which was approved by the Spanish Parliament in 1978.

Princess Estelle of Sweden, seven

Princess Estelle is second-in-line to throne after Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, 41.

The seven-year-old is the only daughter of the Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland.

Princess Catharina-Amalia of The Netherlands, 15

Princess Catharina-Amalia is the heir to the throne of The Netherlands.

The Dutch Princess is the eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

The Dutch royals visited the Queen on their first state visit to the UK in 2018.

They were treated to a grand ceremonial welcome and took part in a carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace.

Prince Jacques of Monaco, four

Prince Jacques is heir to the throne in Monaco

The 4-year-old has a twin sister called Princess Gabriella.

The pair are the children of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene who is a former Olympic swimmer.

The line of succession to the throne of Monaco is based upon male-preference primogeniture

Princess Amalia of Luxembourg, four

Princess Amalia is third-in-line to the throne and the eldest child of Prince Félix and Princess Claire of Luxembourg.

Princess Amalia is the first granddaughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.

She is behind her uncle Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and her father in succession to the throne.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, 15

Princes Ingrid Alexandra is second-in-line to the throne she is the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

The fifteen-year-old is expected to become the country’s second female monarch after Queen Margaret in the 15th century.

Her parents broke royal tradition when a ‘commoner’ Marit Tjessem, was announced as a godmother.

This had never happened in the history of the Norwegian Royal Family until then.

Crown Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, 17

Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant, is the heir apparent to the Belgian throne.

The seventeen-year-old is the eldest child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

Elisabeth currently attends school in Wales at the UWC Atlantic College and is expected to graduate in May 2020

Prince Christian of Denmark. 13

Prince Christian is second in the line of succession to the Danish throne.

The thirteen-year-old is the eldest child of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.

Christian became the first member of the Danish Royal Family to attend nursery school and a public state school.
