The 13-year-old is one of two children of EuroMillions winners Adrian Bayford and ex-wife Gillian who scooped a £148million Euromillions jackpot in 2012. The accident occurred in the grounds of Adrian’s £12million mansion in Cambridgeshire, with friends reporting that the 13-year-old was hit by a car driven by his older sister, aged 15.

The boy’s sister raised the alarm after the collision knocked him off the quad and through a fence in this “devastating” accident, according to The Sun.

The accident at the remote 148-acre estate was tended to by emergency services and an air ambulance, before the boy was taken to a local hospital where he is in intensive care.

A source told the publication: “He’s fighting for his life. It’s touch and go. This is devastating for Adrian and the whole family.

“Adrian is a lovely bloke who cares dearly about his kids. They were having fun at home and a tragic accident happened.”

It is believed that the car and quad bikes were gifts bought for the children by their father Adrian, a former postman using his share of the prize.

The couple split a year after their win, as their marriage broke down “irretrievably”, and Gillian moved to Scotland with their children.

Adrian was planning to sell the Cambridgeshire pad after buying another property to be near his children, but recently moved back to the Grade II-listed mansion.

Following the “nightmare” accident, the boy’s mother has been at his bedside in the hospital.

The Sun reported that a family friend spoke of the son’s condition and that the family were incredibly worried about his injuries.

The source said: “He’s in intensive care and he’s in a bad way. He’s sedated right now and everyone is just out of their minds with worry.

“His sister is really shaken up by the whole thing. It’s a nightmare.”

Reporting on the incident which occurred around 3pm last Monday, a Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said the teenager had suffered “serious injuries” following the collision on private land.

The country estate where the accident occurred had previously been up for sale following Mr Bayford’s move to Scotland.

He’d purchased a £2.5million property near Blairgowrie, Perthshire, to be nearer his children, but took his Cambridgeshire mansion off the market and moved back in earlier this month.
