Euromillions £123million jackpot won by UK player in one of the biggest ever prizes
THE Euromillions jackpot of £123million has been won by a UK single ticket holder after the winning ticket was validated byt Camelot.
The huge windfall is the third biggest prize ever awarded in the European-wide lottery.
The ticket holder has chosen to remain anonymous, Camelot said.
It follows news on Friday that a Britisgh ticket had won the massive £123,458,008 prize.
It is the third highest win in National Lottery history
The owner of ticket matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars during the draw held on Tuesday, June 11.
The winning numbers were 25, 27, 39, 42 and 46, with Lucky Stars 11 and 12.
Lotto sent out an appeal for the lucky winner to come forward.
They do so amid worries that someone didn’t know they were in possession of the winning tickets.
Last week, senior winners’ adviser at The National Lottery Andy Carter, said: “One very lucky ticket-holder has scooped tonight’s entire £123million EuroMillions jackpot, catapulting them right up into third place of the biggest-ever National Lottery wins in the UK.
“Players all across the country are urged to check their tickets to see if they are The National Lottery’s latest mega jackpot winner.”
Four of the biggest Euromillions jackpots this year have been claimed in the UK.
The current record holders for the biggest ever win are Colin and Chris Weir from North Ayrshire in Scotland.
They won £161million in 2011 and made a £1million donation to the Scottish National Party
Adrian and Gillian Bayford from Suffolk won more than £148 million in August 2012, but separated in 2013.
