England football supporters have been slammed for “letting the team down” after a section of fans booed during the German anthem at Wembley on Tuesday evening. Jeremy Vine co-host Storm Huntley erupted at the culprits blaming them for tarnishing a historic win for England in the thrilling Euro 2020 tie. She told the Jeremy Vine panel “a small minority” can let the entire country down.
Ms Huntley said: “You know what I noticed when we were talking about the England games was that it was always against the ‘old enemy.’
“They have got quite a few, Scotland was the old enemy, Germany was against the old enemy, and it could be because of the attitude of some of the fans to do things like boo when people are taking the knee, cheer when little girls are crying.
“That is not the majority of the fans, let me be clear.
“The team…they are letting the team down.”

She continued: “The team were terrific, I think actually Mike Parry undersold them.
“Germany played very well and has played very well throughout the whole tournament.
“England just played better. They are a great team, they got two goals and they deserved to win.
“I think sometimes the England fans, a small minority, can let the England team and the English country down.”
Jeremy Vine: Panel clash over England fans booing
It comes as Mike Parry slammed Jeremy Vine for lack of patriotism over the booing incident.
Mr Parry blasted: “I’m sorry I don’t agree with all this jingoism, it’s not jingoism anymore! It’s football rivalry honestly!
“Remember we played the World Cup final in ’66 that was only some 20 odd years after the Second World War.
“That wasn’t jingoistic, that was rivalry and it’s still rivalry!”

The sports pundit added: “The booing of the national anthem – I’ve seen England play in about 25 different countries around the world…
“And the home fans always boo the English national anthem.”
He insisted the behaviour of England fans has “nothing to do with being Germany”.
Mr Parry argued that the booing had not stemmed from “the rivalry from the Second World War.”
