All trains running through Bromley South have stopped for the evening as the station reported an “emergency incident”. Southeastern said that, while services were still running on the line, they would not stop at the London station. Instead, they would progress straight through, leaving emergency services to attend the incident.

The network will have trains stop at Shortlands, one stop away from the teporarily closed station.

Southeastern did not clarify the nature of the incident, but pictures from the area show the station crowded by emergency services.

Fire engines, ambulances and police have arrived on the scene, with locals watching from nearby.

The London Ambulance Service said it was called at 5.41pm today to “reports of an incident” at Bromley South Railway Station.

In a statement to MyLondon, a spokesman said the service sent “a number of resources to the scene” including an ambulance crew and “members of our hazardous area response team (HART)”.

The service added that the incident “is ongoing” while teams remain at the scene.

Southeastern has confirmed that the disruption could continue for another couple of hours.

The network said: “All Southeastern services to and from London Victoria will be disrupted, with services in the area being delayed and some services will be amended or cancelled at short notice.”

“No trains can stop at Bromley South, so trains will stop additionally at Shortlands instead.

“Some services between London Victoria and Rochester will be diverted to run via an alternative route, where possible, with extended journey times.”

Southeastern has said its tickets will apply across other modes of transport while the service remains disrupted.

People can take the London Underground on “any reasonable route” and buses running between London Victoria and Swanley.

Travellers can also take the Southeastern high-speed service, which operates between London St Pancras and Ramsgate via Faversham.

The disruption comes after the service operated on a special service today following plans from the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union to hold strikes.

Every line saw reduced activity today after the union cancelled planned days of action on November 5, 7 and 9.

But the cancellation came “too late” to reinstate a full timetable, the service said, with business as usual to resume from November 8.
