Elon Musk mulls Twitter paywall amid reports he's 'unblocked' himself

Elon Musk is busy considering any possible way to make money from Twitter.

That could mean he puts the entire social media platform behind a paywall.

According to one unnamed source speaking to tech site The Verge, Musk and his colleague David Sacks have been discussing the idea in recent meetings.

‘One such plan might allow everyone to use Twitter for a limited amount of time each month but require a subscription to continue browsing,’ the site reported.

Twitter is currently trying to enact a change to its Twitter Blue premium membership that asks verified members to pay monthly for the privilege.

It’s not gone down well.

At the same time, reports are floating around Twitter that the self-styled ‘chief twit’ has been unblocking himself from people’s accounts.

Those that have had enough of Elon’s hot takes have been able to block or mute the billionaire – but seemingly even that is getting overturned.

happened to my account

Elon Musk UNBLOCKED HIMSELF for my account?????? The FUCK??? pic.twitter.com/ckH9KIe2OK

why is elon musk suddenly unblocked ??? IM SURE I BLOCKED HIM????

Why can’t we block you @elonmusk ???

Every time I block it’s immediately unblocked.

I don’t have to listen to your bs just because there is nowhere on earth or in space big enough to house your ego.

One way to escape Elon’s clutches appears to be leaving Twitter altogether and many users appear to be doing just that.

The social media site may have lost around a million authentic users since Musk’s takeover on 27th October, according to data compiled by bot trackers.

Over 800,000 accounts have been deactivated since the takeover, and another 500,000 were suspended, said Christopher Bouzy, who runs the tracker Bot Sentinel.

‘Based on our internal data, we estimate 877,000 Twitter accounts were deactivated, and a further 497,000 were suspended between October 27 and November 1,’ Bouzy said on Twitter.

‘That’s more than double the usual number.’
