Elon Musk is tweeting Nazi imagery now
Godwin’s law states that as any online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison to Nazis approaches.
And the discussion over Elon Musk, his ownership of Twitter and the direction of the social media platform has seemingly gone on forever.
Now the world’s richest man and billionaire boss of SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter has come under fire for sharing a meme.
But not just any meme, it’s a meme of a Nazi soldier during WW2 with a backpack full of carrier pigeons.
Musk was using it to make a wry joke about technological progress. But other people were happy to point out that he’s just sharing Nazi imagery.
The meme adds the red notification circle superimposed onto the pigeon cage as if it’s a smartphone app.
Understandably, not everyone finds it funny.
.@ElonMusk. This is a soldier of the 3rd Reich. This is a German soldier who swore an oath of allegiance and obedience to Adolph Hitler. This is a photo of a Nazi soldier. pic.twitter.com/iWaCPY9F7N
Twitter and its new boss is currently embroiled in a debate over free speech on the platform.
The latest idea is to try and ban any parody account that isn’t clearly labelled as such.
Which is going about as well as you might think.
