Election warning for Corbyn: Leader told he’s responsible for voters not supporting Labour
Mr Campbell noted a Labour candidate in Bassetlaw has had “nonsense rumours spread about her by Corbynistas”. He argued the example gives people a reason to not vote Labour. Speaking to Sky News, Mr Campbell said: “What happens in an election especially when the politicians are saying what its about.
“Johnson says it’s about getting Brexit done. The country is going to say, no. We’re going to vote about all sorts of things.
“Jeremy Corbyn says it’s about ending austerity. No, they’re going to say it’s all about leadership and other things.
“When that happens you find that the parties really get tested and if they don’t have a clear compelling strategy, they can disintegrate and fall apart.”
Mr Campbell went on to say he thinks the Tories have started their campaign “terribly”.
He continued: “But I think the Labour party have got to give people reasons to vote for them.
“For example in Bassetlaw, someone I know very well has been selected for the candidacy and now the Corbynistas in north London have decided they don’t like it very much.
“They’re spreading all sorts of nonsense about her and she’s being told she can’t stand.
“That is giving people up there a reason not to vote Labour.
“You’ve got to give reasons to vote for you.
“Not remind them of reason to not like you very much.”
His comments come after ex-Labour minister Ian Austin urged people to not vote for Labour.
In a shocking interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, Mr Austin urged Labour voters to switch to the Conservative Party for the December election as he claimed Jeremy Corbyn is not fit to run the country.

The former Gordon Brown aide claimed the Labour leader is not a patriot and “doesn’t love his country”.
He said: “The Labour Party has been my life and until this year, I have only ever voted Labour.
“But it has really come to something when someone like me says traditional decent patriotic Labour voters should vote for Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party this time.”
He added: “It is too big a risk. That is why I think we should lend the Tories our votes at this election and stop Jeremy Corbyn getting anywhere near Downing Street.”
